a few afterthoughts to the project tel un vampire avant l‘aube / oikooptography.
.

one: bulb of garlic and storm lantern. indicates the camera house to visitors and passers-by. helps keep vampires away.
.

.

two: clambering around in rows of gutted houses and over heaps of rubble.
.

three: two soldiers (‚human shadows etched in stone‘ / hitokage no ishi?). anonymous, on a window sill. probably by children from ukraine who lived in the house grossalbis 23 for a few months.
.

four: chance encounter while clambering around in rows of gutted houses and over heaps of rubble: gianluca, a photographer with a wooden pinhole camera!
.
five: up and down the stairs (soundtrack). making photographs with a camerae obscurae house turned out to be quite physical. 1. in the camera room: compose the image. 2. go downstairs and outside, read the light meter. 3. upstairs again, make a test exposure. 4. downstairs in the lab, develop the test strip. 5. if it turns out ok: go upstairs, install large sheets of baryta paper. expose. 6. downstairs in the lab, develop the negatives. 7. turn on the light and inspect. 8. da capo for further photographs.
.

six: les nus et les escaliers. it might have been hours of listening to creaking wooden stairs that sparked this idea – which admittedly has a long lineage (chauvet cave, eadweard muybridge, étienne-jules marey, marcel duchamp, gerhard richter, calvin & hobbes, eberli/mantel …).
